The correlation between the city bus accessibility and transit ridership in Surabaya City, Indonesia

Abstract Suroboyo Bus and Trans Semanggi are public modes in Surabaya City, should be one way to serve city mobility high number. However, the load factor of bus is below 50%. Therefore, it necessary evaluate provision transportation, such as accessibility. This study uses Public Transport Accessibility Levels (PTAL) method analyze The analysis result shows that most accessibility levels very poor category. means system could cover area at low level. Following that, relationship between level transit ridership analyzed using correlation analysis. results show there a significant variable number passengers stop index; frequency with purpose travel; index distance (distance departure from origin location; destination traveled total mileage); socioeconomic variables (age; average monthly income driving license ownership). Based on these results, some recommendations proposed increase for influencing demand bus.
